She was said as pretty, Lily
She arrived from Somalia, Lily
In a boat full of emigrates
All coming by their own will
Emptying garbages in Paris
She thought we were equals, Lily
In Voltaire and Hugo’s country, Lily
But for Debussy on the other hand
You need two blacks for a white
And that makes all the change.
She loved so much freedom, Lily
She dreamt of brotherhood, Lily
A hotelkeeper Secrétan Street
Precised her as she arrived.
They only hosted Whites
She unloaded crates Lily
She had the bad jobs Lily
She screamed to sell cauliflower
In the street her colored brothers
Along with her on the [marteau-piqueur ?]
And when she was called Snow White Lily
She wasn’t fooled again Lily
She found that very funny
But she had to keep quiet
They would have been to much happy
She loved a nice curled blond Lily
Who was ready to marry her Lily
But the in laws told her we
Are absolutely not racists
But we don’t want that at home
She tried America Lily
That great democratic country Lily
She wouldn’t believe without a glance
That despair color
Over there was also black
But at a Memphis meeting Lily
She’s seen Angela Davis Lily
Who told her come lil’ sister
Together we are less afraid
By the wolves watching the hunter
And that’s to fight her fear Lily
That she also rises an angry fist Lily
In the middle of these weirdos
That burn the busses
Forbidden to the colored people
But in your daily fight Lily
You’ll know a good guy Lily
And the child that’ll be born one day
Will have the color of love
Again what nobody fights
She was said as pretty, Lily
She arrived from Somalia, Lily
In a boat full of emigrates
All coming from their own will
Emptying garbages in Paris
