Choosing a colour for my foundation?

I have olive/wheatish skin and often have trouble choosing a colour for my foundation. Most the time i end up with foundation that is lighter than my face.

With a skin olive you have to find a beige foundation cream average, and test it on your jaw or neck. You know Sephora? Mac stores?
